For rising to the challenge of playing the part of King John.  He put a tremendous amount of effort into his role and gave outstanding performances.

For outstanding effort and contribution in the lower school production.  She has worked hard and shown commitment and dedication.

Kacey Richardson

For rising to the challenge of playing the part of Joan of Arc in ‘Around the World in a 1000 Years’.  She sang beautifully.

4RS Emma Charleston For rising to the challenge of applying knowledge about reading intervals on scales to an activity on the computer.

Joshua McKee

For working really hard to learn his lines for the production.  He had a lot of lines to remember and worked in his own time.

Tom Douglass

For his hard work at finding fractions of amounts.  He moved on quickly from finding 1/3, 1/6 etc, onto finding 2/3, 4/6, etc.

For producing a creative aboriginal art Christmas card to sell at the Christmas Fayre.  He used his creativity and concentration to help him be successful.

For persevering with rotating and reflecting Christmas shapes.

For the excellent effort he dedicated to his non-chronological report on “Christmas around the world”.  He was away from school but tried his best.

Eleanor Shane

For showing great resilience when drawing a bar chart.  Although at first it was a challenge, she was able to learn from her mistakes and start again.

For working hard in numeracy.  She carried out her own investigation to find out which child had the longest foot in her group, showing the results in a pictogram.

For using her imagination and creative flair during the production.  She has entered into the spirit of the school play with enthusiasm, showing other children how to perform.

Dylan Brown

For working hard to solve time problems.  He used his knowledge of RUCSAC, time and subtraction to help him reach the answer.

Ryan Bullimore

For spotting an expert in maths and working with the expert to find the area and perimeter of compound shapes.

Eden Heath

For being like Da Vinci and presenting her work creatively.  She put a lot of thought into how she presented her homework, which really stood out from the rest of the class.

For taking all the work home that was left for her when the Year 6s went to Legoland and completing all of it in her own time.

For adopting a new attitude towards writing.  He has persevered and overcame his barriers to writing, resulting in him writing an emotional piece of writing.

For using what he already knew about circuits to build a working fairground ride.  He then became the expert and shared his learning with the class.

For being able to answer questions about skeletons and teeth. He used his knowledge of the names and positions of bones during the SEARCH workshop.

For using powerful verbs and similes to write a fantastic poem in the style of John Foster.

For making links between the multiplication tables, which resulted in him achieving 100% in his ultimate tables challenge.

For always trying her hardest during Numeracy Booster Sessions.  Even when she is challenged, she perseveres and succeeds.

For producing an excellent Autobiography that required him to use his imagination to become Matilda Mantula.

For using powerful descriptions and interesting vocabulary.  She had to write a story based on pictures, and wrote a longer more complicated story.

For working hard and sensibly during CHIL.  She worked alongside her group, listened to others and helped them by sharing her ideas and knowledge.

For creating a superb page of information on Ancient Egypt.  He used all the agreed features of the genre and punctuated all work correctly.

For listening well during data handling lessons.  She has shown knowledge of both pictograms and bar charts and shared her learning with her class.

For asking a deep question at Chichester Harbour: “How do people get to their boats without getting wet because some of them are far out in the harbour?”

For using figurative language to describe different objects.  He worked hard to produce some creative metaphors.

Star Learners of the Week (14th October 2009)
1LS Molly Hawxwell For using her imagination to describe a familiar setting.  She used creative similes to describe a swimming pool.
2KB Aaliyah Morgan For using her imagination to write some beautiful similes to describe the swimming pool.  She included verbs, adjectives and adverbs in her writing.
3LC Tyler Clapp For using adjectives and similes in his writing, showing that he can use what he has learned in class.
4RS Kerys Moxham For using her imagination when writing a list of items to go in her sarcophagus.
5HK Jacob Arendse For working independently to check his calculations in maths.  He showed a fantastic knowledge of using inverse operations.
7SK Brooke Stell For being an expert during music lessons.  Excellent glockenspiel playing and demonstrating to the rest of the class.
8JC Megan Baker For completing work outside of school.  She missed some of the lesson so she designed her own maths investigation at home.
9SH Toby Hall For working hard in numeracy lessons and solving a range of addition problems using the column method.
10BK Jake Turnbull For using his imagination when writing a paragraph from the point of view of a character in an illustration.  His writing made the character “real”.
11LR James Douglass For using his imagination and links to prior knowledge to write a descriptive paragraph predicting the next part of the Rose Blanche story.
