Our ICT Vision:
At Elson Junior School we value the contribution that ICT can make and the benefits it provides to both pupils and staff in terms of their ability to learn. Our main emphasis is to develop each pupil’s abilities to use ICT creatively and for them to use ICT to support their learning in an independent, resourceful and reflective manner. This will be achieved by providing effective teaching and learning opportunities.
Whether on a computer at school, a laptop at home, a games console or mobile phone, children and young people are increasingly accessing the internet whenever they can and wherever they are.
As a school, we want to make sure that the children are safe whatever they are doing. Like learning to cross the road, online safety skills are skills for life. If your child understands the risks and can make sensible and informed choices online, they can get the most from the internet and stay safe whilst doing so.
Our vision encompasses the following aims:
- To enable all our staff and pupils to be confident, competent, and independent users of ICT. We aim to use ICT where appropriate to motivate and inspire pupils and raise standards across the curriculum.
- To develop pupils’ ICT skills, knowledge, understanding and capability through taught IT lessons which are set down in the school’s schemes of work.
- To provide opportunities for pupils to apply and consolidate their ICT capability across all curriculum contexts.
- To provide relevant, up-to-date technology that adds value to the learning. To ensure that both teaching staff and pupils are aware of their software choices and able to work them effectively.
- To enable our pupils to make wise decisions while using the internet and other online communication skills.
